3 Steps for Fitting Your Passion into Your Busy Life
Busy is an understatement when referring to our crazy lives. Multitasking just to get the mundane stuff done, has become the new normal. So, how do we possibly fit in the stuff we really love to do? I mean passions are meant to be followed, right?
To live a happy life, we must make time for the things that truly light us up. So here are three ways to get that fuzzy feeling even when calendars are bursting at the seams.
STEP 1: Schedule it
For me, if I don’t write it down or put in my calendar, it does not happen. Not because I don’t want it to but because something else will fill that time. Then, I find myself that night asleep on the couch not having made time for my happy stuff. Another day bites the dust.
So, get out your handy dandy phone, open that calendar and schedule time to play your guitar, go for ride, meditate or paint that new picture. Treat your favorite things as important as work and do it! You wouldn’t blow off a meeting with your boss, so why would you blow off doing your favorite thing?
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” —Vincent Van Gogh
STEP 2: Learn, learn and learn some more
When you’re passionate about something, it is like having an insatiable appetite. In my case, I consume book after book, I talk about it and I write about it. It makes me feel that much closer and while I may not be “doing” whatever it is, I am in that same mind space.
Get a great book, sign up for a class or even teach someone else about what you know. Learning and teaching is part of the process.
“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” —Oprah Winfrey
STEP 3: Visualize it
To manifest your dreams, whatever they are, you must believe in yourself and your dream. The best way to do that is to visualize it in full effect. Before you go to sleep at night, close your eyes and create a picture of what you want. Use all your senses – smell it, feel it, taste it, hear it, see it!
Visualizing makes it more real and more attainable as is you are already living it. It’s like a dress rehearsal before the show.
“If you want to reach a goal, you must ‘see the reaching’ in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal.” – Zig Ziglar
Take the time to do what you love everyday because you cannot get time back. So, start today by scheduling a little time, learning a little more and visualizing it all!
Turn your passion into a reality and enjoy the ride.
